Storyline is “a new, fresh, 12 session resource produced by Urban Saints, which takes young people on a journey where they will understand, and experience, the story of God as revealed in the Bible”. For the past four months we’ve been trying out the Storyline resource and I want to let you know how it’s been going for us and review this fantastic Urban Saints material.
Storyline has been a really exciting experiment for us. We picked an early Saturday evening timeslot, and advertised through friends – our initial group quickly growing to twenty. We’ve had a real mixture of ages and churched and non-churched young people coming along which the material is easily adapted to.
Each storyline session involves taking a section of the Bible and learning it through activities and discussion – it’s really that simple. The multi-sensory activities have engaged the young people and they remember what’s taken place over previous weeks and are enthusiastic about what is coming up next.
Storyline has really surpassed our expections. I’ve never had such open and frank discussions about God, Jesus and the Bible with young people, the material really lending itself to this. Obviously we’ve had to do some tweeking to the material to make it suitable for our group, but there’s been a LOT less than usual… I do however think that serving Hot Chocolate mountains should be added to the Storyline guide!
I’d happily recommend Storyline to any youth worker looking for an interactive, exciting and life-changing way of telling God’s story and at £25 for the folder including DVD and CD it’s great value. Take a look at the video below to see what our young people thought of storyline.
